- Architect by ARE exam $350 ($100 nonrefundable application fee, $250 registration fee)
- Architect by Comity $520 ($100 nonrefundable application fee, $170 review fee, $250 registration fee)
- Biennial renewal fee $250 - 24 professional development hours of continuing education in Health, Safety and Welfare is required for renewal.
Applicants must have graduated from an approved school of architecture and have combined education and work experience as outlined by the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB). Completion of an Intern Development Program and passing of an arctic engineering course are also required. Upon acceptance by the Alaska Board, authorization to test for the Architect Registration Examination will be received from NCARB. All exam fees and testing are through NCARB.
Note: Effective 3/12/2012 Comity applicants are no longer required to have an NCARB Certificate. Submit an application, transcripts, verification of license and exams and work verifications per 12 AAC 36.103.
New requirement for 12/31/09 renewal includes 24 hours of continuing education. All hours must be in health, safety and welfare. For further information go to Alaska State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors website.
