A re-application fee of $50.00 is required if the license has expired 90 days or longer, and if it is expired more than two years a re-examination is required. Work may not be performed with an expired license.


Requirements
  • Applicants for electrical journeyman and lineman journeyman need 8,000 hours of legally obtained experience in the trade subject to the NEC (electricians) or NESC (linemen). A notarized letter from former employers or an Alaska based union attesting to experience is required.
  • Electrical residential applicants need legally obtained 4,000 hours of experience in the trade subject to the NEC. A notarized letter from former employers or an Alaska based union attesting to experience is required.
  • Applicants for electrical journeyman and lineman journeyman need 8,000 hours of legally obtained experience in the trade subject to the NEC (electricians) (no more than 2000 hours of residential wiring) or NESC (linemen). A notarized letter from former employers or an Alaska based union attesting to experience is required. Apprentices must be indentured in registered apprenticeship program that is approved by the United States Department of Labor, apprenticeship office.
