No fees or exams are required.


Requirements

Administrators must be at least 21 years of age; be of good character and reputation; have a minimum of 12 semester hours of college credit in early childhood development, child development, child psychology, or the equivalent such as a current CDA credential or Montessori Certificate; must have the knowledge, skills, and ability to work with children as well as management and supervisory skills for working with staff and other community agencies; Provide four references. Be cleared through a background check which includes fingerprinting, as well as a review of criminal justice information, child protection records, and past adverse child care licensing actions. Verify they do not have a physical health, behavioral health, or domestic violence problem that poses a significant risk to the health, safety, or welfare of children. Administrators are also required to meet specific continuing education standards.

Child Care Associates must meet the same age, qualifications, college credits or CDA credential or Montessori Certificate, and continuing education requirements as an Administrator.

Caregivers must be 18 years or older, except an individual between the ages of 14-17, may provide care if in close physical proximity to, and under the supervision of an adult caregiver provided they make up no more than 25% of the total caregiving staff. Caregivers must provide three references, clear the same background checks described above for Administrators; verify that they do not have a physical health, behavioral health, or domestic violence problem that poses a significant risk to the health, safety, or welfare of children; complete a prescribed orientation training, and 20 hours of annual training per year. Part time caregivers must complete 10 hours of training annually.

The facility must be inspected to ensure it meets health and safety standards.
