Applicants must complete an initial 40-hour training course through a state approved training provider which includes instruction on Alaska Occupational Safety and Health regulations, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations, and the medical implications of working with asbestos as well as other topics prior to completing an application and paying of fees. If application is made through the mail, a head and shoulders photo (no smaller than 2" x 2" in size) must also be enclosed. Completion of an eight-hour refresher course through a state approved training provider is required for renewal. All paperwork must be received within 45 days of completing the course or you are required to retake the course. License will expire one year from date of completion of the 40 hour training course. Work may not be performed with an expired license.
Licensee must attend an 8 hour renewal up to 1 year after expiration. License will expire one year from date of completion of renewal course. If applicant is not actively working in the trade there is no requirement that they apply for or obtain a renewed license but renewal training must be kept current every 12 months.
