Using the Career Lattice
Listen to an overview of the career lattice on KDLG public radio from January 2, 2012.
Advancement to a goal occupation:
If you’re considering a certain occupation as a goal and looking for possibilities for advancement,
choose a goal occupation from the list of occupations. Your goal occupation, called the
“Focus Occupation,” will appear in the box at the vertical center of the career lattice.
Occupations that will help you advance to the focus occupation will be
below the focus occupation box.

Immediate transfer to a related occupation:
Perhaps you’d like to transfer directly to an occupation for which you are already qualified.
For example, you may have lost a job and need immediate employment, or may want to change occupations
without needing extra training or education. In this case, options for transfer will appear to the
right of your selected current occupation.
